Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy's "Sam & Cat" has been cancelled after just one season according to US Weekly.

The "series finale" will be celebrated with episode 36 "#Getting Wiggy."

"Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them the best," said the company.

This very brief statement gave no light as to why the show will no longer be produced. Though Grande took to Twitter to thank her character Cat and the show, she did not thank McCurdy, says US Weekly.

The relationship has suffered in the past as rumors of unequal salary were buzzing, however, Grande took to twitter to dismiss them quickly saying, "Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show)," in April.

"The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false. I don't know who's putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I'd straighten it out and try to end this nonsense."

At this point no further details of the cancellation have been released but the two successful stars must have a reason to why their hit show is being cancelled so abruptly.
