Staind's Aaron Lewis, threw out the first dice roll at the much-anticipated Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City during the entertainment destination's official grand opening event.

Lewis kicked off gaming at the new casino before playing the first concert for a private audience at the live entertainment venue, Anthem.

"We couldn't be happier to have a major rock star like Aaron Lewis help us get the party started," said Todd Moyer, General Manager of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.

"It's been a whirlwind right up to the finish getting everything ready for our grand opening, and we're thrilled to share the evening with our community."

Lewis was one part of the rocking celebration to open the Midwest's newest hot spot, which featured several concerts, unlimited gaming, an eclectic mix of gourmet food and beverages, and a fireworks display.

Lines of excited patrons waiting to join the party were snaking around the building before the doors opened to the public at 8:00 p.m.

Several prominent community members involved in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City project addressed crowds awaiting entry during an outdoor press conference.

In lieu of a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony, Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott, MRHD President Mark Monson, and Warner Hospitality CEO Bill Warner all joined Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City's General Manager Todd Moyer in simultaneously smashing Fender guitars in commemoration of the grand opening.

Completed less than one year after the start of construction, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City is a fully integrated gaming resort offering a wide variety of entertainment options and an impressive collection of rock memorabilia.

Patrons can look forward to: table games and more than 835 slot machines; indoor and outdoor concert venues; several bars and restaurants offering various food and beverage options; the world-famous Rock Shop; and a boutique Hard Rock Hotel housed in the historic Battery Building.
