The Howard Stern SiriusXM radio was visited by Rod Stewart who opened up about his new album, working with Ron Wood and performed a few tracks for the Stern Show crew.

The interview opened up with Stern commenting on Stewart's sense of style before breaking into questions about working on a track with Ron Wood.

"Howard asked if Ron Wood is a great guitar player and an underrated guy," according to MarksFriggin.

"Rod said he's a really good rhythm guitar player. He said he's not a great lead guitar but a great rhythm guitar player. Rod said that he comes up with great riffs too. Howard said it's a great intro."

Stern asked Stewart about "First Cut is The Deepest" and whether he knew Cat Stevens.

Stewart told Stern that he didn't know him well and didn't really want to compare the two versions but he thought that his version was better and Stewart performed the hit song.

"Howard asked Rod if he worries about sales these days. Rod said no," according to MF.

"He said why worry about something that's out of your hands. Howard asked Rod about the new album, Another Country, and asked if he wrote it himself. Rod said he did.

He said he just sits alone thinking about what to write. He said that's how Maggie May came about. He said he wrote that in 1971."

Stewart performed the track "Love Is" off Another Country. The track has a grassroot/folky sound and it was the first time that Stewart performed the track.

"Howard said that Rod did the song "Forever Young" and that might be one of his favorites," according to the recount of the show.

"Howard said this is a song for his kids. Howard asked if it gets him emotional. Rod said his daughter Ruby comes out and sings it with him. He said she's 26 now."

"Rod said he missed out on their childhoods. He said now he has an 8 and 4 year old. He said he tours around their holidays now.

Robin asked how the age range of his kids is. Rod said they range from 4 to 56. Rod said he uses his pencil well."

The interview with Stewart continues Stern's slew of musical guests. Stewarts Another Country is out now and Stern had really positive things to say about the album.
