Robert Downey Jr. Talks 'Captain America: Civil War' on the Stern Show

Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. paid the Howard Stern SiriusXM radio show a visit during his press run for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film.

Just days away from the release of Captain America: Civil War, Howard Stern got the chance to sit down with Downey Jr. He pointed out that Downey Jr.

is the highest paid actor for the third year in a row thanks to the Iron Man franchise.

"Howard said he got that franchise going single handed. Howard said he should take a victory lap," according to MarksFriggin.

"Howard asked if he's filming another one because he has the Tony Stark facial hair. Robert said he did it just for Howard."

Stern pointed out that Downey Jr. could actually sing and that he performed "Driven to Tears" along side Sting. Stern wanted to know if he ever thought about putting out an album.

After talking about his friendship with Sting, Downey Jr. told the story of trying to push a cassette tape in the hands of Sting.

One of Sting's people did take the tape from him and 25 years later, Sting's wife Trudy told Downey Jr. that they had found the tape and he took it back.

Stern wanted to know if he was nervous when he sang with Sting and Downey Jr. stated that he was nervous even going into the Stern Show because he listens to it all of the time.

"Howard asked if Robert has had to turn down movies that he really wanted to do because he's doing Iron Man. Robert said not really," according to MF.

"He said he'd find time to do them if he really wanted to. Howard asked if the Iron Man thing is his whole life.

Robert said it's really not. He said he has other things he's working on. He said the biggest the casts get the easier it gets for him because he's not carrying them."

Stern began talking about his love for the super hero movies and about the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film that is on track to be the highest grossing film. The film features Chris Evans as Captain America, Iron Man and also introduces the new Spiderman.

Downey Jr. told Stern that money did not motivate him.

Stern believes that Downey Jr. really made the Iron Man movies and put Marvel on the map. He asked Downey Jr. if he would be upset should he ever be replaced. Downey Jr. simply said that he would not

"Howard said in the first Iron Man they wanted Tom Cruise. Robert said he never heard that. He said he knows they wanted him to play Chaplain," according to MF.

"He said he's not sure about Iron Man. Howard said even in Pretty in Pink they wanted him to play Ducky.

Howard said they went with Jon Cryer. Howard said he was talking about how every movie he ever went up for Matthew Broderick got."

Stern and Downey Jr. chatted some more about the Captain America: Civil War film and Downey Jr. gave the overall gist of what is happening in the film. They spoke briefly about the introduction of the new Spiderman, along with Chadwick Boseman who is the Black Panther.

Robin Quivers told Stern that Boseman was in 42 after Stern couldn't recognize the name. Another solid interview with Robert Downey Jr.
