Henry Cavill may be Superman, but the actor is diversifying his talents because Netflix has announced he will be the main lead in its 'The Witcher' TV series. Henry Cavill will play none other than Geralt of Rivia.

Henry Cavill has said in the past that he's a huge fan of the video games and would love to play Geralt of Rivia if the opportunity presented itself.

Now he got his wish as he will play the character for eight episodes in its first season.

The Witcher franchise is not just a video game series because it is originally a series of books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Since that time, it has been turned into many video games which all got high praise from both fans and critics.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still regarded to be one of the best video games ever to be released in 2015.

Anyway, you can read a small synopsis for 'The Witcher' down below as posted by Variety. The TV show is expected to have a decent budget in order to add the fantasy elements of the franchise.

“The Witcher” follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, as he struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."

Production for The Witcher series will start very soon and the first season includes eight episodes. Hopefully the TV series does not affect his schedule to play Superman in future DC Films!
