After months of fan speculation, Warner Brothers officially confirmed the cast for the 2016 "Suicide Squad" movie--and the fan buzz is palpable.

While some thought British supermodel Cara Delevingne was going to portray Harley Quinn, the villainess will be brought to life on the big screen in by Australian actress Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street; Pan Am) alongside Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club; Requiem For A Dream), pegged to play The Joker.

For those who need a little back story, Harley Quinn was a former psychiatrist in Gotham--who went by the name Dr. Harleen Quinzel--before she fell in love with one of her patients: the Joker.

Quinn dropped her former life in favor of becoming the notorious sidekick and lady love of the Joker, and in the DC comics, she was portrayed as hopelessly, blindly and irrevocably in love with him.

As their story progressed, the Joker's feelings on the nature of his relationship with Quinn influences him to attempt to kill her on multiple occasions, though she's badass and crazy enough to survive... and forgive.
