About "The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies"
Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit," Bilbo Baggins and his band of loyal comrades head in to war with all the evil of Middle-Earth in order to prevent the dragon Smaug from acquiring a kingdom of treasure.
The screenplay was written by Peter Jackson, Guillermo del Toro, Fran Walsh (The Lovely Bones, The Lord of the Rings; Fellowship of the Ring), and Philippa Boyens (The Lovely Bones, The Lord of the Rings; Fellowship of the Ring).
It stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, as well as Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel), Benedict Cumberbatch (Smaug), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), and Ian McKellan (Gandalf). Stephen Colbert is also rumored to make a cameo reprise as "Laketown Spy."
