There may have been some controversy surrounding the release of Joker, but this did not deter the movie's Box Office earnings. The movie managed to overtake Venom to have the highest October opening of all time.

As reported by BoxOffice.com, Joker earned a very decent $96.2 million at the North American Box Office. This is higher than the $80.2 million that Venom got last year which was the previous October record holder.

This is a big win for Warner Bros and DC since its DCEU has had a patchy history thus far. It's quite surprising to note that Joker even had a bigger opening weekend compared to 2017's Justice League movie.

Joker is even R rated which makes the debut even more impressive. Venom was rated PG-13 and still earned a lower opening weekend.

The budget for Joker was $55 million to the movie should make a profit by the end of its run. From a worldwide standpoint, the movie has already earned $248.4 million globally.

Word of mouth for Joker should be good in the weeks to come. The Cinemascore for the movie is a B+ at the moment.

As for Rotten Tomatoes, the critic score is at 69% with a verified Audience Score of 90%. The movie might do well since people are predicting it could be a very early Academy Award winner contender.
