With the 2016 Tony Awards coming up, host James Corden, the creator of the Carpool Karaoke segment that has become a big hit for The Late Late Show, recently stopped by The Late Show to explain Carpool Karaoke to Stephen Colbert.

Colbert welcomed Corden to the show and congratulated him on the success of The Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke. Colbert wanted to know how Corden came up with the Carpool Karaoke.

Corden explained that he wrote a sitcom for BBC called Gavin and Stacy that did very well.

He said people liked his character and during a Comic Relief charity, his character picked up George Michael to sing a couple of songs during the Carpool Karaoke.

Corden explained that they thought it was a great idea but it wasn't so easy bringing it across the pond. No one wanted to do the Carpool Karaoke sketch. However, he was able to get Mariah Carey onboard and that's when it all started.

Meanwhile, Corden said he does mix London for the architecture and his family. Corden said he never thought of himself as anything other than a citizen of the world.

So far Corden has visited the Howard Stern Show to talk about his career and was also joined by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Audra McDonald and Jane Krakowski for a Broadway Carpool Karaoke.
