Howard Stern remembered his good friend Joan Rivers on his radio show first by playing an excerpt from one of her visits to the show.

Stern said that it was weird attending her funeral because it was actually on a weekend and that she promised not to die on the weekend but she did, according to MarksFriggin.com, a website that does a recap of the Stern show.

Stern then corrected that she actually died during the week but her funeral was on the weekend.

Following those words, he played a clip from the show where Rivers talked about David Brenner's death and how she wasn't going to do that to Stern as he told Joan that it ruined his weekend when Brenner died.

Stern said they lost a friend of the show and that he met Joan in 1983 when he was at WNBC according to the transcript, while he added that they were "the pariahs and scumbags of show business at the time." Stern commented on Joan's continuous support of his show and the mutual support her had for her.

Stern expressed the fact that Rivers knew how to be funny and the it was a complete shock losing her as he didn't feel that it was her time.
