Howard Stern kicked off his show today sharing some thoughts on legendary announcer Don Pardo, who passed away Monday at the age of 96.

The talk show host told the story of how Pardo walked into NBC with some friends, and auditioned, being hired on the spot as the network's announcer.

He also suggested that Takei, who is guesting for the week, should attempt to have his distinctive voice used as the new voice of "SNL."

Pardo joined NBC in 1944 and rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s as the announcer for the iconic game shows "The Price is Right," 1956-1963, and "Jeopardy!", 1964-1975.

"Nothing is like the moment," Jimmy Fallon told The New York Daily News, "when Don Pardo says your name."
