'Ghostbusters' Tops the Worldwide Box Office As 'The Secret Life of Pets' Tops Domestically

The brand new reboot of Ghostbusters managed to take the top spot at the box office worldwide, however, Illumination's The Secret Life of Pets stays strong in the US.

"Notable newcomers had an impact internationally this weekend with Fox's 'Ice Age: Collision Course' taking the #1 market share position in 35 markets, earning $53.5 million from 15,132 screens in 51 total markets," said comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

"Meanwhile, Sony's 'Ghostbusters' scared up a solid $19.1 million from 3,900 screens in 3 major territories in its international debut."

Fox's Ice Age: Collision Course hung on strong at the number three overall globally with $53.5 on the weekend.
