The Flash season 5 has been teasing us that Caitlin's dad is still out there alive on Earth and wants to reconnect with his daughter.

Well in today's episode, we find out that he's still alive, although he may not be all that he seems.

If you wanted to know more about Cicada this week, you'll have to wait for a future episode instead. The main story arc of the entire season was put on the back-burner to instead focus more on Thomas Snow.

This week's episode did not feature much action, but we did get to know more about Caitlin's past.

It seems as if she never got her Killer Frost powers from the particle accelerator explosion like everyone. Instead, she got her powers when she was a kid.

Thomas Snow (Caitlin's Dad) had ALS that wasn't recovering so he did some experiments on himself to try and cure it.

As a result of his experiments, he even used the formula on Caitlin when she was a child. This is how she got her Killer Frost powers in the first place.

While Caitlin and Barry seem to like Thomas Snow, Cisco gets a warning from a vibe that her real Dad isn't present at the moment.

It seems as if his Killer Frost-like alter ego is calling for Caitlin so that he can be free forever.

It's not properly explained too much in the episode, but Thomas Snow's alter-ego is nicknamed Icicle and it was his plan to lure Caitlin to find him.

He wants Caitlin's human cells so that the real life Thomas Snow won't be back again!

The bad guy twist was predictable, although it's nice to know that Caitlin's dad isn't 100% dead. All they need to do is try and suppress his Icicle alter-ego and Caitlin can have her dad back.

At the end of this week's episode, the good guys try and spoil Icicle's plan and in the middle of the battle, Caitlin's Killer Frost powers return.

She had a mental block for several months, but Caitlin can now tap into her powers yet again.

Icicle runs away after his plan fails, although Caitlin still feels her real father in still inside him.

Whether or not Caitlin will be reunited with her real dad remains to be seen, but this is a storyline that could be revisited in the future episode.

For now The Flash team have found more clues into Cicada's origin.

They know he's a dad and that he's out there hunting down every metahuman he can find. The Flash team better find him quickly, because Cicada's powers are getting stronger!

While this week's episode did not feature much story progression, I was still interested to find out more about Caitlin Snow's past. I even cheered a little when I saw Killer Frost come back!

Overall though, this week's storyline wasn't too important and the other characters didn't really get to do much. Hopefully more details are revealed about Cicada and his backstory in the episodes to come.

Verdict: 6.5/10
