After hearing Tony Marrero's survival story from the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Ellen DeGeneres surprised Marrero in an awesome way. The Ellen Show and Katy Perry teamed up for one of the shows most emotional surprises yet.

Marrero told DeGeneres that he listened to Katy Perry's "Rise" quite a bit during as he recovered because the lyrics to the song are so powerful. He embraced it and says he plays it over and over again because it is so beautiful.

Marrero had not met Perry at that moment and DeGeneres asked him if he wanted to meet her in that cunning but awesome way.

Before Marrero could answer, DeGeneres called for Perry and out she came, causing Marrero to immediately become overcome with emotion. Both her and Perry embraces with tears coming from both of them.

Perry said she was shaking and wanted to be there when she heard how she impacted Marrero. Tears were still streaming down her face as Marrero thanked her for her music and inspiration.

Perry said she heard Marrero has dreams and talent just as she does and that he wanted to go to film school. So, she said she would personally be paying for his first year at film school.

Marrero and Perry's emotions continued to flow as they embraced in another big hug. You can watch Ellen DeGeneres and Katy Perry's emotional surprise for Tony Marrero in the video below.
