Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder dedicated his song "Light Years" to Isaiah "Ikey" Owens during a concert at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. ??

Owens, a former keyboard player for The Mars Volta, died unexpectedly from a heart attack earlier this week while on tour with Jack White's band in Mexico.

The official coroner report states that the only a "small amount of marijuana" was found in his hotel room
??
According to Billboard, Vedder called Owens "a friend of the whole group, a great player, a great writer and a visionary" and also expressed soldiery with White and his band: "We send our heart out to [White] and his band.

The only thing we can do is try to take the energy here, so we can remember him fondly."??

Owens came to prominence after a fateful meeting with Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of At the Drive In, who invited him to join their dub reggae project, De Facto, and later with The Mars Volta. He was recruited to play keyboards, organ and piano as part of Jack White's backing band, The Buzzards, and played on White's sophomore album, Lazaretto.

Owens also released solo material under the name Free Moral Agents and did session work for a variety of artists, including Mastodon and El-P. ??

White cancelled his remaining tour dates in Mexico in the wake of Owen's death, but will resume touring on Nov. 7 in Instanbul.
