After working with up and coming artists on his new album, "Compton," Dr. Dre is going to be funding an arts facility in Compton by using the royalties from his "Straight Outta Comtpon" soundtrack.

Dre had wanted to give something back to his home town. Aja Brown, who is the mayor of Compton seemed to have the perfect idea.

"I've been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn't quite figure out what it was.

Aja actually had this idea and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, 'Boom, this is what we should do.'"

It's not like Dre will miss the "Compton" royalties with a net worth of $700 million.

"Compton" was released on August 7th. The album comes 16 years after his last.

Dre announced a new album, "Detox" back in 2001 but because he didn't think it was any good the album was scraped.

Dre has said that "Compton" will be the last album he puts out. The reviews for the album are mostly full of praise, although one noted that the album was a bit anticlimactic for fans who'd been waiting so long.

Rolling Stone, remarks Compton "contains some of his most ambitious, idea-stuffed production ever", the Guardian, names Dre's "gift for rejuvenation remarkable", and Grantland calls it "the first undeniably earth-shifting and socially abstract eyes-wide-open moment in a solo career"

The new facility is meant to serve as a haven and source of creative inspiration for Compton's youth. "Straight Outta Compton," the movie based on the NWA's influence and career will be in theaters on August 14th.
