Gillies posted this shirtless photo to Instagram that is sure to get his followers excited. The photo is an ode to his character Dr.

Joel Goran on "Saving Hope." Gillies has given one of his best performances as the tamed Mikaelson brother.

During the mid-season finale, Elijah, the character played by Gillies, finally let go and showed his feelings for Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). Fans should look for the second half of the season to be pretty epic.

The star also took to his Twitter page to retweet a photo of Cleveland Cavaliers forward Lebron James wearing an "I Can't Breathe" t-shirt during warmups.

Following Derrick Rose, the rest of the NBA including James began wearing the t-shirts in silent protest against the grand jury's decision not to indict the officer who used a chokehold during an arrest that resulted in the death of Eric Garner.

Gillies himself has yet to throw on a t-shirt of his own, however, his tweet shows that he is very much in support of the rally against the grand jury's decision.

Fans can catch Gillies on "Saving Hope" and on the CW's "The Originals" once it returns in January.
