An IndieGoGo campaign to fund a film version of David Foster Wallace's 2004 short story "Oblivion" has ended, raising just over $2,000 of its $50,000 goal. ??

However, director Francesco Marchione isn't giving up yet. He wrote the following on the campaign's Facebook page:

??"Thank You all so much for supporting our film during this campaign.

We're having some meetings this month to draw up a new battle plan of how to proceed and all the while trying to find some additional resources so we can begin shooting in earnest as soon as possible."

??This is the latest in a series of events that proves the stubbornness of Wallace's work to be translated to film.

The one work we do have, John Krasinski's (of TV's The Office) 2009 adaptation of Brief Interviews With Hideous Men was largely deemed a failure.

??Presumably to avoid the same type of reception, Parks and Recreation co-creator Michael Schur (also of TV's The Office) has thus far declined to adapt Wallace's massive 1,000+ page opus, Infinite Jest, despite owning the film rights.

He did, however, direct the Infinite Jest-inspired music video for The Decemberists' "Calamity Song" and laced one episode of Parks and Recreation with tons of references from the novel.

His wife has reportedly banned him from speaking of the book at social gatherings.
