Childish Gambino Releases 'STN MTN' Mixtape: 'KAUAI' To Be Released On iTunes Later Today

Rapper Childish Gambino surprises his fans today with his "STN MTN" mixtape with some Southern inspiration resounding throughout the project.

"Childish Gambino comes through, outta nowhere, with his new mixtape 'STN MTN,' the other half of which, 'KAUAI,' is an EP that will be available on iTunes later today," reports HotNewHipHop.com.

"For the Stone Mountain-dedicated portion, we get 11 records, with appearances from Kari Faux, Young Scooter and R O Y A L T Y."

The track "Dream Southern/Hospitality/Partna Dem" uses a Ludacris sample and also the beat for "Patna Dem," by Rich Kids featuring Young Dro, which Ludacris also free-styled on. The entire mixtape is an ode to the old school Southern style of rap and it's golden days.

The K Camp hit "Money Baby" also gets a Gambino free-style as well as a long list of Southern favorites like Futures, "Move That Dope," which also shows that he also embraced the new style Atlanta rap.

The free mixtape and paid EP has been a a strategy used by P. Reign when he released his "Dear America" mixtape for free and the "Dear America" EP earlier this summer.

The tactic is smart as it gives fans an incentive to purchase the artists music.

His last show on "The Deep Web Tour," is this Saturday in Austin so if fans want to see him they might need to make a trek.

Fans can also check out the "Sober" track he released off of the "Kauai" EP which features Jaden Smith.
