Chelsea Handler appeared on the Howard Stern Show on Wednesday morning and dished on why she left late night, and what's new for her.

Handler is in a period of reinvention for herself. "I'm done interviewing celebrities," she told Stern.

She took a year off to regroup and travel. "I was bored by my voice, and if you're bored, everyone knows you're bored, and they're bored," she said.

The Daily Mail reported in June that Handler is fed up with the business of celebrity gossip. They reported: "In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the statuesque blonde, 39, said: 'To be quite honest I don't really care about Justin Bieber and I don't want to talk about him anymore.

In order to make that happen I had to just stop doing my show. Straight away."

"I went to Netflix," Handler told Stern, and she talked about what she wanted to do next. "I feel like I'm smarter than what I'm doing, and I feel like I'm getting dumber.

There's not enough well-roundedness in what I was doing. I like human interest, global issues, and politics. I want to learn a lot."

Handler and Netflix teamed up to produce documentary-style comedy specials.

Next year will see the premiere of four 1-hour, Netflix exclusive "docu-comedies." She's also been doing more stand-up comedy. Chelsea Handler's "Uganda Be Kidding Me" stand up comedy special is available on Netflix on Friday, October 10 at midnight.
