If you were watching the 2015 AMA's chances are you saw Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor kissing passionately after a performance of "Marvin Gaye." Today Puth visited the Ellen DeGeneres show and talked about the make out session with Trainor.

DeGeneres was open and took a little credit from finding Puth who said that no record label executive found him first, it was in fact DeGeneres who recognized his talent. Puth is nominated for three Grammys this year with one of the biggest tracks "See You Again" alongside Wiz Khalifa.

Puth's album hasn't even been released which shows that his 2015 was a pretty incredible year.

He was contacted by the Ellen Show as a sophomore in college and apologized for hanging up on them so many times because he thought it was unrealistic for the show to be calling him.

Then it was time to talk about his kiss with Meghan Trainor.

"Meghan is best friend," said Puth.

"Marvin Gaye was the first song I ever wrote in California and I always wanted to make a record like Marvin Gaye's was, where you would put them on this magical record player and everyone would just, you know, wanna get down with each other.

Dance with each other. Not like that you dirty minded people."

He called the kiss a visual aesthetic for what the song was all about. Puth is going on tour to support his debut album Nine Track Mind, which is set to release on January 29.
