Comedian and actor Anthony Anderson chatted with Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osborne, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, and Sheryl Underwood about playing the lead in hit ABC sitcom, Black-ish.

To kick off the conversation, Anderson told a charming story about one time his mother punished him for acting out. "I ordered a baby grand piano and a diamond ring on my mother's credit card," he said.

His mother made him take piano lessons, and Anderson thought he needed one. "I ordered the diamond ring for my daddy because I didn't want him to whip my butt."

Anderson talked about an unusual chore he performed for a little extra cash as a kid. "My mother has the feet of sasquatch," Anderson said.

"She wears a man's size 13." So he would wear her shoes around the house to break them in a stretch them out. Money in the bank.

Though, since Anderson landed the starring role on "Black-ish", he doesn't need to do anymore household chores. Since it's debut, "Black-ish" has received an overwhelming amount of positive critical acclaim.

Anderson stars as Andre Johnson, a successful advertising executive with a beautiful wife and family, living the "American Dream." The show takes a playful approach to what the "American Dream" means, and takes on racial issues and assumptions that many other sitcoms tend to ignore.

While they can often pertain to heavy subjects, the show's light side carries the weight of the issues well.

He also talked about how the "bro mitzvah" thrown for the son on "Black-ish" is based on a real family story involving Anderson's son. Watch a clip from the show:
