Comedy legend Ben Stiller visited the Howard Stern SiriusXM radio show and while it's normally all fun and games, things got pretty serious. Stiller revealed that he had battled with prostate cancer at the age of 48.

"Howard said Ben is there today and he's there to promote something that guys should know about. Howard said this is a serious health issue," according to a recent MarksFriggin rundown.

"Ben said he's there to talk about prostate cancer. He had it when he was 48. He said he was diagnosed and it came out of the blue for him. Howard said 48 is kind of young for that.

Ben said it is. Howard said he got tested early but the recommendation is that you get a PSA test at 50.

Ben said they say that you should discuss it at 50. He said he started at 46 and if he hadn't he still wouldn't know."

Stiller said that prostate cancer was not in his family history and that the high risk group happen to be black men and men who are of Scandinavian decent. He spoke about an early detection test called the Prostate Specific Antigen and said the test saved his life.

While prostate is one of the most deadly cancers, Stiller also revealed it was one of the most curable forms of the disease.

"Ben said he talked to his wife about it. He said he got worried after the second time. Ben said that it brings up so much in your life," according to MF.

"He said the way it happens is you go from one test to the next. He said that you have to reorient yourself. Ben said it makes you think."

Stiller did have to get the operation done but not everyone would need it.

While he kept it a secret during the time, he said he was now ready to talk about it. He also penned a piece for Medium, which can be accessed in the tweet above.

"Ben said he was diagnosed on a Friday the 13th and then he had to heal up before the surgery.

He said he just wanted to get it out. He said the morning of the surgery was really scary," according to MF.

He later on talked about preserving the sexual functions and the technicalities involved with the surgery. It was an eye opening conversation for males from a pretty relatable actor.
