Ashanti Returns From Africa Tour, Says She Does Not Have Ebola

Ashanti was a guest host on "The View" Wednesday afternoon, and to open up the show, she was happy to report that she did not have Ebola.

"It was very scary," Ashanti said about landing in Nigeria. She talked about everyone wearing masks and being on edge about the disease.

The famed singer was on tour in Africa with Ja Rule, and they landed in the country in early October. They performed with Nigerian comedian Bovi at his "Man On Fire" show.

The Nigerian Tribune reported: "They both arrived the country in a private jet with their 10-man crew during the week and were lodged at the Eko Hotel and Suites."

In late October, the World Health Organization officially declared that Nigeria was free of the Ebola virus.

"This is a spectacular success story that shows that Ebola can be contained. The story of how Nigeria ended what many believed to be potentially the most explosive Ebola outbreak imaginable is worth telling in detail," they wrote.

There are currently no cases of the Ebola virus in the United States, according to Rosie Perez.

Wednesday morning, NBC New York reported that mayor declared New York City to be Ebola free. Dr. Craig Spencer was released from Bellevue Hospital Center on Tuesday.
