Singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette visited the Howard Stern SiriusXM radio show to talk about the 20th Anniversary of Jagged Little Pill and her career, while also performing some of her hits for the crew and listeners.

"Was Dave Coulier the inspiration for 'You Outta Know'? What went on behind the scenes of making one of the best-selling albums of all time? Tune in to Howard 100 this morning and find out!" teased the Stern Show earlier this morning.

Morissette is known for her edgy and real lyrics. She dominated the 90's with hits like "Ironic," "You Oughta Know" and "Head Over Feet.", all of which were featured on her album Jagged Little Pill.

Stern opened the interview with a discussion about Morissette's time on Nickelodeon and the fact that she was working hard since the age of 10.

"Howard said it seems like it was because she was a child star and her brother wanted to be one too. Alanis said she doesn't think her brother wanted it," according to a MarksFriggin recap.

"She said she was in the public eye but she wanted to hide too. She said it was like she had her foot on the brake and the gas pedal at the same time."

Morissette revealed that she was always petrified of performing live and even joked about being petrified during the interview with Stern. Both Stern and Morissette have that in common as he doesn't actually like being on talk shows either.

She is now a mother and said that she tries to encourage her son to express.

"Howard said that Jagged Little Pill is the 20th biggest selling album in history. Howard said she sold 30 million albums.," according to MF.

"Howard said that the record company must have kicked themselves after seeing that. Howard asked Alanis about Miley Cyrus and how she's trying to find her voice as an adult.

Howard said it has to be tough when you're trapped in that image. Alanis said that it is a hard thing to do in a world that has all of these expectations."

The two talked about her hit "Ironic" which didn't actually have any irony spread through it. The song almost didn't make the album and Morissette told Stern she didn't feel like it was autobiographical.

When Stern asked her whether or not her song "You Oughta Know" was about Dave Coulier and she denied it. She told Stern that she would never actually talk about who the song was about.

"Howard said Alanis recently joined Taylor Swift on stage," according to MF.

"She said that it wasn't a big sisterhood thing going on in her day. Howard said she did 'You Oughta Know' with Taylor. Alanis said she did.

Howard said that they have some things in common so that song was a good one to do. Howard asked if Taylor asked her for any advice.

Alanis said she didn't. She said they did have a moment and she thinks that Taylor is built for this."

The interview with Howard Stern was quite eye opening. Morissette also did an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2014 and opened up about her success in the 90's.
