Howard Stern Off Today

Though Howard Stern already works a three day a week schedule with Thursday and Friday off, he took an additional day off Wednesday as fans who turned in for his show learned.

Stern is cagey about his vacation time and rarely lets it slip to fans that he will be skipping a day -- likely because admitting he's taking an extra day sets off a round of complaints.

Stern did perform on a live edition of America's Got Talent Tuesday night which keeps the host up well past his normal bed time.

Though AGT is hosting its live shows in New York at Radio City Music Hall, it's still an evening work obligation which has in the past disrupted the Stern show's schedule.

The off day was not mentioned on the official @HowardStern Twitter account nor was it referenced on HowardStern.com.

That likely means the host is off until at least Monday though it is possible he comes back with a special Thursday or Friday show.

That has happened in the past when missing a day causes the host to have less shows scheduled than his contracts call for.
