The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur Has A Shocking Viewer...Who Is It?

Today, during The Young Turks' 15th anniversary celebration, Cenk Uygur announced something shocking to fans of the network: there is one world leader who regularly watches their flagship show, The Young Turks.

Who is that world leader? It's Syrian President (and evil dictator) Bashar al Assad.

That's right: according to Uygur, Bashar al Assad watches The Young Turks regularly.

How did Uygur find that out? He explained that another progressive journalist, Michael Isikoff, recently interviewed Assad, and for some reason the two got into a discussion of media sources that they follow.

Assad declared that he watches The Young Turks. Isikoff happens to be a longtime friend of Uygur and The Young Turks network, so he told Uygur about the revelation.

The fact that Assad watches The Young Turks is especially surprising given that the show is progressive, and Assad is a right-wing authoritarian dictator who is responsible for killing tens of thousands of people.

Uygur explains that he tried to think about a way to convince Assad out of committing the horrific war crimes that he has committed. Obviously, it's unlikely that The Young Turks can change Assad's mind.

So why does Bashar al Assad watch The Young Turks? We don't know, but we expect that Uygur will find out and some point.

The Young Turks Celebrates 15 Years On Air

As we reported previously, The Young Turks celebrated their 15th anniversary of being on air on Tuesday. Cenk Uygur actually started The Young Turks on Valentine's Day in 2002.

Today's celebration included many of the original stars and crew on the network, including Wes Clark Jr. and Jayar Jackson.

During the celebration, Uygur recalled another interesting story.

The story centers around Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert of of Texas. Uygur explained that he met Gohmert on a plane, and Gohmert said that he doesn't believe that Donald Trump understands the Constitution.

Uygur and The Young Turks have -- on several occassions -- talked about how stupid Gohmert is, so Gohmert's statement was surprising to Uygur.
