The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur Hits Back At Cernovich On Genocide Denial Claims

Last night, conservative Twitter was ablaze with attacks on The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur.

The attacks made the often-debunked claim that Uygur denied the Armenian Genocide. Tonight, on his show, The Young Turks, Uygur hit back at the conservatives who propagated the claim.

The tweets began when far-right author and Trump supporter Mike Cernovich tweeted this:

Another far-right personality, Prison Planet's Paul Joseph Watson, also got involved in attacking Uygur.

Uygur explained that the attacks backfired when some of Cernovich's anti-Semitic readers turned to denying the Holocaust themselves.

Uygur said: "What was funny was that his own fans started getting into a fight in the re-tweets....because he compared it to the Holocaust, and his fans were like the Holocaust never happened."

The claim that Uygur denies the Armenian Genocide has been brought up many times, partially due to the name of his organization, The Young Turks.

The name The Young Turks comes from the political movement called the "Young Turks," which was intended to replace the Turkish monarchy with a constitutional government. However, the movement was closely associated with the Armenian Genocide.

Uygur's co-host Ana Kasparian, who is of Armenian descent, has had to deal with many attacks from other Armenians, who claim that she's working for an organization that supported the Genocide.

She explained, "If you do a quick Google search you find videos on this channel, on our network, of me talking about" the Armenian Genocide -- how terrible it was, and how it affected her family.

Kasparian has received physical threats because people assume she denies the Genocide, without doing any research.

Uygur said that he thinks the coordinated attacks came because he did a video on Alex Jones the other day, and he believes that that made them angry.
