WWE's John Cena is slowly following in Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's footsteps. The wrestling superstar is now starting to get good roles because this new role will be his biggest movie to date.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, John Cena is set to star in the upcoming Transformers Bumblebee spinoff movie. The report says it will be one of the leading roles so he should have a big part in it. Recently Cena had only just been in supporting roles or cameos.

The man is getting more opportunities now because he's no longer wrestling on a full time basis.

John Cena commented on Twitter about his casting: "One of the most exciting projects I've been fortunate to be a part of. Thrilled to join the #Transformers franchise!"

Hailee Steinfeld is the main lead of the movie and the two are joined by Jorge Lendeborg, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn and more.

The movie is set in 1987 where Steinfeld's character Charlie finds Bumblebee in California. The script is being written by Christina Hodson and is being directed by Travis Knight.

With Cena in this new movie, this means he will have to leave the WWE again after just returning in July. It's highly likely Cena will be gone again shortly after SummerSlam to film the movie.

Cena's 40 years old already and his body cannot tolerate a full-time wrestling schedule as much anymore. The transition to Hollywood could be a good career move as we all know how successful The Rock is now.

With Cena in the Bumblebee movie, this could decrease his chances of being cast in DC's Shazam.

Shazam is supposedly going to film as early as next year.

It's possible another actor is chosen to be Shazam, but many fans were hoping Cena gets the role so he could face The Rock's Black Adam on the big screen one day.

Anyway, the Bumblebee movie has a new release date of December 21st, 2018. This will be the first time that a Transformers film is released outside of the Summer blockbuster season. It could do well during the Christmas break.
