Lindsay Lohan seems to have awoken from hibernation. After weeks of (mostly) staying out of the news, essentially disappearing from social media, and not getting into any feuds, Lohan has suddenly resurfaced in a weirder way than ever.

In the last few months, Lohan has posted controversial writing about ISIS and been caught speaking with a strange accent.

That was all before she abruptly deleted all of her social media postings and disappeared. And now, she's claiming to be 'racially profiled' at London's Heathrow Airport.

But it looks like she's back now, and she's suddenly been posting a lot about Turkey.

She has also resurfaced in the media, appearing on ABC's The View this week, and making an open request to appear as Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid.

Did Lindsay Lohan convert to Islam?

For a while, there were rumors that Lindsay Lohan had converted to Islam.

These rumors were bolstered when she posted an Arabic phrase meaning "peace be unto you" during her social media break.

However, her mom insists that she has not converted, according to Digital Spy. And given that Lohan has recently posed nearly naked in a photo, we agree that the conversion to Islam is very unlikely.

Lohan has also apparently moved to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and has been traveling around the Islamic world in some sort of good-will tour.

She also claims to have learned Arabic. On her return to London, Lohan says that she was 'racially profiled' for wearing a hijab.

Lindsay Lohan and Turkey?

In the last few weeks she has posted photos from Turkey and the Middle East.

Most of the pictures are of her with child refugees. Strangely enough, in one of her photos, she appears to be standing next to a young refugee in front of a $200,000 plus Mercedes G-wagon.

Lohan seems to recently have become close friends with Turkish President Erdogan, and she has promoted him and his work via her Instagram.

It's unclear if she's aware of the brutal crackdown on his people that Erdogan has commenced. Separately, she has been involved with the United Nations recently to discuss her goal 16 program.

Nevertheless, it definitely appears that Lohan is trying to turn over a new leaf and use her fame in order to promote causes that she believes in.

It's no doubt that her spending time with young Syrian refugees will bring more attention to the cause.

According to Us Weekly, Lohan is in what her rep calls a "period of renewal." The rep says that she is "making positive changes in her life."

So the question is: has Lohan really turned over a new leaf, going in the direction of Angelina Jolie and Emma Watson, or is she just trying to get back into the spotlight with some head turning actions? We'll have to wait and see.

She definitely should be applauded for her current work, however.
