The Wonder Woman movie has been a huge success for Warner Bros.

Not only is the movie doing really well in North America, but it is earning lots of money worldwide too. All this money is being earned just prior to its release in Japan later this year.

As noted by Box Office Mojo, Wonder Woman has now earned over $404 million in North America alone. It has surpassed Spider-Man (2002) to become the highest grossing origin story for a comic book movie.

That movie earned $403 million back in the day. Sure this is not adjusted for inflation, but it's still a big achievement. Its domestic gross is also better than Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.

Another milestone that the movie reached today is earning over $800 million worldwide. It reached this feat before Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Sony and Marvel's Homecoming movie sits at $724.9 million. Spider-Man has to rely on the September release of China in hopes of reaching $800 million worldwide.

On a worldwide basis, Wonder Woman is still below the $873 million that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earned back in 2016. The release in Japan could push the female superhero movie close to that number.

Still, this is a great achievement for the movie. It is great momentum as Justice League needs the good media coverage to do well this November.

Gal Gadot is returning in Justice League as well as Wonder Woman 2. It will be interesting to see if Gadot's Hollywood career can florish outside of the DCEU. She has really grown to become a great actress. She has much more experience now than she did starting out in Fast Five!
