This week brought three major stories at the box office but none bigger than the impressive opening weekend of Wonder Woman. The film opened up with over $223 million and has been receiving rave reviews from moviegoers.

"Using her super powers to create powerful box office numbers around the world, Warner Bros.' 'Wonder Woman' enjoys a fantastic $223 million global debut that was bigger than even the most generous projections and puts the DC Comics brand on a newly reinvigorated path to critical and box office success," said comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

"Notably, Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' crosses the $500 million mark worldwide this weekend while Universal's 'The Fate of the Furious' is on track to raise its international total to $1.004 Billion."
