The franchise of Dumb and Dumber has taken a beating, mostly because of Dumb and Dumberer. But amazingly, the trailer for the new Dumb and Dumber movie actually looks like a movie that might be watchable.

Except it won't be. Getting Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back together to reprise their roles is sort of a big deal considering it's been 20 years since the original movie.

The problem here is that much like the movie 'Elf', this one should have always remained as a singular movie.

Dumb and Dumberer has luckily receded from everyone's memory, but this looks like another movie that was made to capitalize on the brand and turn a profit.

The trailer was released on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and whereas there are certainly funny scenes in the trailer, it does not look like a home run by any means.

This is just one mans opinion, but the idea that this will be anywhere close to as big of a hit as the original is crazy.

It's very similar to Anchorman 2, in that the movie will succeed financially speaking, but the original movie will always matter much much more.

Unless the writers have squeaked out some genius story-line here, it will have it's funny moments but that's about it. So prepare to be mildly entertained for 90 minutes while you constantly compare it to the original movie.

That right there will end this movies ability to be anything more than a successful studio picture.

Beyond the fact that the actors are 20 years older and the chemistry is 20 years older too, this one will quickly recede in everyone memory, just like it's predecessor 'Dumb and Dumberer'.
