Nathan DeSai was pronounced dead a few hours ago, after he allegedly went on a shooting rampage in Houston, TX. So who is he?

Update 2: According to a local TV station, he may have been a half-Indian Nazi???

Update: According to a search on Radaris and Mylife Nathan DeSai also goes by the name "Niren Desai." The ages and family match, but this is unconfirmed by any other sources, so we don't know whether it's true.

If it is the case that Niren and Nathan are the same perosn, it appears DeSai went to Alief Hastings High School on Houston.

There's also a Yearbook picture in the Houstonian from the time he was at University of Houston that mentions Niren Desai:

MyLife claims that Desai is an "inferred Democrat" although it's unclear what that means.

Nathan Desai - What Happened

The shooting is thought to be workplace violence, due to some kind of dispute with other legal associates. Below is the video of the shootout he had with police:

Nathan DeSai - Job

Nathan DeSai was a Houston-are family lawyer who ran a rather small law practice with his partner Ken McDaniel. The practice was recently dissolved, although it's unclear why.

He has since been working from home. The was reasonably successful in his law practice, and owned a Porsche Boxster.

According to Breitbart, a friend of his said "DeSai was the friendliest, nicest person you can imagine. Not for a minute, would I think he was capable of this."

Here is a section of his biography from 2004:

Mr. DeSai was raised in Houston, Texas and received his B.S. Science in Psychology from the University of Houston in 1993. After earning his Law Degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1998, Mr. DeSai worked for Richardson & Ward in Tulsa, Oklahoma as the Director of Legal Research & Writing. Later, Nathan moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma where he represented the Chief of the Cherokee Nation in Civil Rights Litigation. Shortly thereafter, Nathan accepted a position with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney. Mr. DeSai gained experience in trial matters as the Chief Prosecutor in County Court Number Nine. As a partner in the Firm of McDaniel & DeSai, LLP, Mr. DeSai practices in the areas of Criminal Law, Family Law, Bankruptcy, Civil Litigation and Business Law.

According to a local news reporter, a landlord said that there was a decline in DeSai's business, which forced him to move out of his office:

DeSai's father said a similar thing in an interview:

Nathan DeSai - Life, Family

He appears to be half-Indian, although this has not been confirmed. He is not thought to be Muslim. He lived in Houston, around Bellaire Junction:

Nathan DeSai - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn

Nathan DeSai does not appear to have a Facebook or Twitter account. There is another man by the name of Nathan Desai on these sites, but he is not related.

The real DeSai had a LinkedIn account, which has since been deleted.

DeSai was alleged to have asked out clients in the past.

His law practice was on Yelp. There, DeSai was not highly reviewed:

I would NOT recommend this firm to anyone. My initial interview was with Desai. I was asked to pay a $1,500 retainer, which I paid under the impression that things were going to be taken care of. The end result was that nothing could be done to help me. I don't understand why I was charged so much money for them to simply tell me, Sorry, we can't help you. Besides that, Nathan Desai acted very unprofessional by asking me (a paying client) out for dinner and drinks. I understand that attorneys cannot guarantee outcomes or results, but I was very offended by the lack of professionalism. I asked for an itemized printout showing exactly what I was charged for, and they e-mailed me and charged me just under $200 for giving me an itemized.

Here's another review of DeSai:

I found them to be unprepared and inexperienced once they showed up. As for their fees, they completely over charged for what little services they provided. I'm talking about 9,000 dollars for just under 2 days worth of work. Then when the case began to become difficult they decided to stop representing me. So basically they did poor work, took my money, and ran off with my money before my case was anywhere close to being finished. I wouldn't recommend these two jokes to even my worst enemies for representation of any level of law. They should be investigated by the bar association.
