What Could You Buy With The $1B Trump Wants To Spend On 48 Mile Wall?

Donald Trump has started requesting money for that wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for.

Ignoring for now that this is another failure on Trump's part to "do a deal," the actual amount is staggering: $1 billion for 48 miles of new wall. That's $20 million per mile of wall!

Per CNN:

The $999 million requested by the White House in its budget supplement for just defense and border security spending would cover just 48 miles of new wall, according to justification documents from the Department of Homeland Security obtained by CNN.

So we thought: instead of building the wall out of concrete and metal, what could we do over the 48 miles with $1 billion dollars. Here are some of the things we came up with:

48 Miles of New Porsches

If you like cars, you could build line the 48 miles with brand new Porsche Boxsters, bumper to bumper. You would need around 370 new Porsches to line each mile, or 17,760 Porsches in total.

The price for 17,760 Porsches? $888 million. That leaves $112 million left over for gas, which at $2.30/gal will get you almost 50 million gallons. Enjoy your drive!

118 Foot Tall TV Wall To Watch The Super Bowl

You could make a wall of TVs to watch the Super Bowl on. A 1 mile long line of 60" TVs requires 1173 60" TVs, which would cost approximately a half million dollars.

So a 48 mile long line of 60" TVs would cost $24 million. So you'd easily have enough money stack many TVs on top of each other.

You could stack 41 TVs on top of each other over the entire 48 miles for $1 billion. In total, you'd have a wall of brand new 60" TVs that's 118 feet tall for 48 miles.

48 Miles of Louis Vuitton Bags

Like fashion? Here's another way to line 48 miles. You can buy a mile long stretch of Louis Vuitton handbags for around $5 million.

For 48 miles, you would spend $240 million. So you could build a wall stacked 4 high of designer Louis Vuitton bags for $960 million, and still have $40 for matching shoes.
