The Weeknd Reacts to His 2016 Oscar Nomination

After what was one of the most monumental years for singer, The Weeknd, is breaking into 2016 in an even bigger way.

The Weeknd has been nominated for the best Original Song in a film for "Earned It," which was featured in Fifty Shades of Grey.

"It can't get more surreal than this. thank you for the recognition @TheAcademy. Truly a proud moment," said The Weeknd in a recent Twitter post.

"Earned It" spent weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and The Weeknd currently has "The Hills," "In The Night" and "Can't Feel My Face" on the Hot 100 Chart.

His album Beauty Behind The Madness was a huge hit with fans with many of the tracks trending upon it's release last year. With so much success already 2016 is off to a great start for The Weeknd.

The Weeknd's "Earned It" is in competition with, Racing Extinction's "Manta Ray" performed by Antony Hegarty, "Writings On The Wall" from Spectre performed by Sam Smith, "Til It Happens To You" from The Hunting Ground performed by Lady Gaga, and "Simple Song #3" from Youth performed by David Lang and Sumi Jo.
