Now that Disney fired James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy 3, the man is open to make movies for other movie studios. Word on the street is that Warner Bros wants him to direct and write on Suicide Squad 2.

Three insiders tipped this awesome piece of news to The Wrap.

Even though this announcement is not official yet, this is a huge get for Warner Bros. Aside from Wonder Woman, every other recent DC movie has had mixed or very negative reviews.

The first Suicide Squad movie came out in 2016 and made a lot of money at the Box Office.

That said, the movie had negative reviews which affected plans for a sequel to be made in quick fashion. Warner Bros has been planning lots of other movies for its DC comic book characters instead.

It's being said that James Gunn will have an all "new take" on the property. It's unknown if it will be a direct sequel, but it should feel and look different from the movie that came out in 2016.

Suicide Squad 2 had been in pre-production for several months now, but no official release date or details were announced. Today's revelation should reveal that Warner Bros will be making the film sooner rather than later.

As for the status of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Disney has put that movie on hold. It's expected James Gunn's script for that movie is still being used, but the movie will be directed by someone.

It will be interesting to see if Dave Bautista will get a role in Suicide Squad 2. After all, the actor has been supporting Gunn ever since he got fired from Disney earlier this year.
