The Venom Movie Could Spawn Potential Sequels

With a lot of hype and anticipation, Sony Pictures is hoping its upcoming Venom movie could spawn a franchise of its own following the demise of The Amazing Spider-Man series.

The movie's director has hinted that sequel plans are already being laid out.

Venom director, Ruben Fleischer, was interviewed by ComicBook.com and he mentioned a few things that hint that there are many different directions for a sequel to be made in the near future.

You can read his comments on the matter down below.

We’ve definitely laid some groundwork for different directions that the franchise could go but obviously it all hinges on people’s excitement about this film. I hope people will stay and see what seeds have been planted.

There are rumors already that a sequel might include Carnage who is another famous villain from the Spider-Man comic books. Despite lots of movies, Carnage has never made a debut in live action form before.

That said, a sequel to Venom will only happen if fan reception is positive.

The movie will need to be a surprise hit like the first Deadpool movie in order to be successful enough to warrant any type of sequel or spin-off movie.

Bear in mind this Sony universe is different from the MCU by Marvel Studios. Sadly, there will be no crossovers because Sony wants to create a separate cinematic universe of its own.

The Venom movie releases in North America on October 5th, 2018. Hopefully the movie does well so we can see more films in this potential huge franchise.
