'The Vampire Diaires' Ian Somerhalder Hypes Fans Up For 'The Downward Spiral'

Season six of "The Vampire Diaries" has been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster and Ian Somerhalder get's fans ready for the final stretch with an Instagram post, hyping up "The Downward Spiral."

The return of "The Vampire Diaries," is just one week away and Somerhalder took to Instagram to post a hilarious photo of himself playing a tuba fused with him holding what appears to be Mardi Gras beads in his mouth.

"Would you let this guy direct an episode of the Vampire Diaries, well, they did! It airs March 12th which is in 7days:22hrs from now-but who's counting...," read the caption of the photo hyping up the episode called "The Downward Spiral." Fans and followers of TVD and Somerhalder know that he announced three months ago that he would be directing an episode of the show, by posting a photo of the script.

"This is pretty cool too...

Who is directing the next episode?On set with him right now;) Thank you to all involved in the decision-making process for giving me the opportunity to do this-I am so grateful," said Somerhalder in his previous post.

"I'll do my very verry very best not to screw it up."

Bonnie (Kat Graham) has finally made it home after an agonizing season of emotional highs and lows. Now that Damon has his newly formed friendship from the other side back, they have to address the fact that his mother, who he thought was dead, is still alive and kicking trapped in Kai's prison.

A thickening plot may be an understatement especially with Caroline (Candice Accola), flying off the handle as she gives up her humanity.
