Even though Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is not out until later this year, Universal Pictures has already announced an official release date for the third movie in the new trilogy.

It will actually be the sixth movie in the famous Jurassic dinosaur franchise.

As reported by Variety, Universal Pictures has already announced that Jurassic World 3 will be released on June 11th, 2021.

This makes is roughly three years after Fallen Kingdom comes out and six years after the release of the first Jurassic World movie.

Jurassic World's director Colin Trevorrow is set to write the third movie along with Emily Carmichael. You can read Trevorrow's comments about the third movie down below.

It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to ‘Fallen Kingdom,’ and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.

The first Jurassic World movie revitalized people's interest with the dinosaur film franchise. The franchise was kind of in limbo after the ill received Jurassic Park 3 came out in 2001.

Jurassic World went on to become a big Box Office hit earning over $1.6 billion worldwide back in 2015.

It will be interesting to see how much money Fallen Kingdom is able to make when it releases in North America on June 22nd, 2018.

It remains to be seen if Universal Pictures wants to continue the franchise beyond 2021 after Jurassic World 3 comes out.

It might depend on how much money the future movies make since it's hard to predict movie goers' taste al of the time.
