Anthony Cumia was fired as co-host of the Opie and Anthony Show - a job he held in various places for 20 years - by SiriusXM for comments made on Twitter.

This Tweet sums up how ridiculous it is for a person paid to share his opinion getting fired for words, not actions, when others get a slap on the wrist for actual violence.

Cumia's Twitter posts that got him in trouble happened after he was assaulted in New York's Times Square.

The talk show host, who has a permit to legally carry a gun, was armed at the time of his incident but did not respond with violence.

Instead, he kept his weapon holstered and waited until he could vent on Twitter in what many would assume was an appropriate fashion.

Ray Rice, a football player for the Baltimore Ravens was not similarly restrained.

The player was involved in an incident that left his then-fiancee (now wife) unconscious in an Atlantic City casino elevator in February, USA Today reported. For that he received a two game suspension.

"As you acknowledged during our meeting, your conduct was unquestionably inconsistent with league polices and the standard of behavior required of everyone who is part of the NFL," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote in a letter to Rice after the NFL confirmed the suspension Thursday afternoon. "The league is an entity that depends on integrity and in the confidence of the public and we simply cannot tolerate conduct that endangers others or reflects negatively on our game.

This is particularly true with respect to domestic violence and other forms of violence against women. "

Tweet angrily and get fired. Hit women and get a slap on the wrist.

Cumia starts a new, subscription-based show August 4. Details can be found on https://www.anthonycumia.com/.
