What to do in Opole, Poland
Opole is a delightful Polish city that many people have yet to discover, despite it being one of Poland's most incredibly breathtaking places. If you are looking for a lesser-known city in Europe that has everything – history, art, architecture, delicious cuisine, and gorgeous nature – Opole is the place for you. With a population of approximately 120,000, Opole, situated in the southwestern part of Poland, is vibrant and full of life, with a wide range of events, festivals, and attractions for both tourists and locals.
Here are some of the top tourist attractions, worth a visit:
1. Piast Tower
The Piast Tower dominates the skyline of the city, with a height of over 44 meters above ground level. It was initially part of the St. Adalbert Church and was constructed in the 13th century. The tower holds two exhibition halls that tell the history of the city, and visitors can climb 138 stairs to reach the highest point of the tower to appreciate the panoramic views of the whole region.
2. Amphitheater
Opole Amphitheater is claimed to be the largest and most popular spot in the city. It is an outdoor venue that can accommodate more than 15,000 people, and every year it hosts the National Polish Song Festival, which has become synonymous with the city. The dress circle is home to the bronze statues of famous Polish singer-songwriters like Czeslaw Niemen, Marek Grechuta, and Krzysztof Krawczyk, to name a few.
3. Muzeum Slaskie

4. Opole Market Square

The square is known for its aesthetic wares, souvenirs, food, and home to the 'Holy Trinity statue,' that dates back to the 18th century. At the epicentre of the square is the charming town hall building that was erected in the mid 13th century, and it provides an incredible photo opportunity for visitors who love architecture.
5. Zamek Moszna
Zamek Moszna is a stunning 18th-century Palace located just outside of Opole, in the village of Moszna. It was once a palace of the Dukes of Silesia, and one of the most picturesque palaces in the country. It has striking architecture, a magnificent park and magnificent interiors showcasing intricate mosaics, ceramics, frescoes and tapestries from multiple countries.
