Its main attraction is the mysterious Nazca Lines, a collection of immense geoglyphs made in the desert that have puzzled scientists for years. However, Nazca has much more to offer than just these iconic lines. Here are the top attractions that you should explore while in Nazca.

The Nazca Lines

The Nazca Lines are undoubtedly the most famous attraction in the town. Their creation remains a mystery, and it's believed they were constructed by the Nazca culture between 400 BC and 650 AD. The lines are more than 1,500 years old and cover an area of about 50 square kilometers. The Nazca Lines are geometric patterns and images of animals, birds, and plants created by removing the reddish-brown iron oxide-coated pebbles that cover the Nazca desert floor to reveal the lighter-colored earth underneath. The only way to see the lines is by taking an aerial view from a small aircraft or observation tower.

Puquios Aqueducts

The Puquios Aqueducts are one of the most impressive engineering marvels of ancient Peru made by the Nazca people. The aqueducts are a series of underground, connected canals located in the desert hills outside of Nazca. These canals were built to capture water from underground springs and redistribute it to the lower grounds, providing water for agriculture.
