What to do in Madurai, India
Madurai, also known as the "Athens of the East", is one of the oldest cities in India with a rich cultural and historical background. Located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, Madurai is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and is a popular destination for tourists. Here are the top tourist attractions in Madurai, India.
1.Meenakshi Amman Temple-
The Meenakshi Amman Temple is one of the most famous and oldest temples in India. It is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi, the consort of Lord Shiva. The temple features intricate carvings and sculptures that depict the stories from Hindu mythology. The temple complex also includes a hall of thousand pillars, a tank, and several other smaller shrines.
2. Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal-
The Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal is a palace built in the 17th century by King Thirumalai Nayak.
