What to do in Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, India
Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, situated in the Indian state of Gujarat, is an exceptional representation of a unified Islamic-Hindu architecture and planning. The park, which is approximately 50 km from Vadodara, was once the capital city of Gujarat in the 16th century. In 2004, UNESCO declared Champaner-Pavagadh as a World Heritage Site due to its rich cultural and architectural history which dates back to more than eight centuries.
The Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park covers an area of 1,329 hectares including the Pavagadh hill, a volcanic mountain with an elevation of 800 meters above sea level. The park comprises a total of 114 monuments, including temples, mosques, palaces, and tombs.
