Even though the Michael Bay directed Transformers movies were critically panned, the first four films of the franchise were very profitable for Paramount Pictures.

Well that kind of changed thanks to the underwhelming release of last year's Transformers: The Last Knight.

Transformers: The Last Knight became the smallest grossing film of the franchise as people got sick of Michael Bay's vision for the series. Now it looks like Paramount Pictures might be contemplating an entirely new reboot of the series after 2018.

As you might know already, December 2018 sees the release of the Transformers Bumblebee spinpoff film starring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena. It seems like this spinoff will be the last one in the original series.

According to a report from Transformers World, Hasbro stated at the "Toy Fair 2018 Hasbro Investor Preview" that Paramount Pictures plans to reset the Transformers movie series after the release of Bumblebee this December.

This essentially means we might be seeing a reboot.

To put more evidence to this report, Hasbro released a plan of its upcoming partnerships with Paramount Pictures and no Transformers movies have been listed yet.

Transformers 6 was supposed to be out in 2019, but it has been removed from the current schedule.

If this is true (which is very likely), it seems as if Paramount Pictures knows the current Transformers movie franchise is no longer popular with movie goers.

A fresh reboot with a new director and possibly a new setting could make people excited about Transformers movies again.

As aformentioned, Transformers: The Last Knight buried the franchise as it was still a critical failure and even audiences around the world started to lose interest.

A fresh restart is the best way to go ahead with the franchise in the future.
