A less than hospitable welcome for the Top Gear team in Argentina.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are known by many as "Petrol Heads," who've done some crazy things in their days on Top Gear.

The trio were recently in Argentina filming for their newest episode when they were attacked by angry Falkland War veterans who attacked them and the filming crew by pelting them with rocks, according to Mail Online.

The local Argentinian's were apparently angered by the license plates on the cars Clarkson and his team were driving. The reason behind this was that the locals felt the Clarkson's license plate, H982 FKL, was an allusion to the Falkland War which was fought in 1982, (FKL standing for Falkland.) Hammond and May also had the numbers 269 and 646 which a local official, Juan Manuel Romano, was quoted saying the digits 269 on the number plate of the Ford Mustang were close to the 255 Britons killed during the 1982 war - and the numbers 646 on the Lotus could be taken as a reference to the 649 Argentinian casualties.

After being attacked, The Top Gear crew was forced to leave the Argentina, Mail Online goes on to report, and were escorted out by police.

Andy Wilman, Top Gear's executive producer, went on to deny the allegations saying, 'To suggest that this car was either chosen for its number plate, or than an alternative number plate was substituted for the original one, is completely untrue.'

This is not the first time Top Gear has been smack dab in middle of a PR crisis.

Clarkson, The show's main host came under fire earlier this year for a racist remark while filming for Top Gear.

Reportedly said the N - Word while singing a rhyme and was later forced to apologize in a video which can be seen below.
