Sony has been wanting to make an Uncharted movie for many years now, but the project never really got into full production.

Well things seem to be getting into full gear with a new director at the helm plus Spider-Man's Tom Holland now being cast in the movie.

As reported by Deadline, Sony has been impressed with Tom Holland's work as Spider-Man that they want to build another franchise around him. He will be playing a young Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie directed by Shawn Levy.

They are currently reworking the script in order to make it a prequel to the first game in the series. It will follow a younger Nathan Drake and how he first meets his mentor Sullivan.

Sony were inspired by the idea when a similar sequence happened in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman also came up with the idea after watching the latest cut of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Tom Holland could play the role perfectly as he has the same comedic timing as Nathan Drake in the video games.

Not to mention Spider-Man was one of the best things about last year's Captain America: Civil War.

It's not clear if the whole film will star Tom Holland, so it's possible we could see another actor play an older Nathan Drake.

Hopefully Sony actually goes through with it. They have wanted to make this film for many years now, but nothing came into fruition.

At one point, Mark Wahlberg was supposed to play Nathan Drake, but plans fell through when director David O. Russell decided to pull out. Fans have wanted Nathan Fillion to play Nathan Drake, but sadly movie studios always have different ideas.
