It appears Paramount Pictures is sour on the Terminator franchise and a sixth movie may not be made in the near future.

What's even more interesting is that the studio may not be interested in bringing back Arnold Schwarzenegger for future films in the franchise too.

According to a report from NY Daily News, a source tells them that Paramount Pictures is not interested in making a sequel to Terminator Genisys.

The sequel would have been the sixth movie in the franchise. Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke aren't returning for future movies either.

They said both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke were offered long-term deals to appear in more sequels, but Paramount Pictures has decided to pull the plug on the franchise for now.

There is no preparation being done for any type of Terminator movie at this stage.

Another reason Paramount Pictures is too scared to do any more films is because Arnold Schwarzenegger is now 70 years old.

To play a role like the Terminator again at that age is a tough ask. Audiences won't also be too receptive too if Arnie was just replaced with a CG double for the majority of the time.

Terminator Genisys was supposed to be a starting point for a new series of Terminator films. If you watched the movie, you'll know where the series was supposed to be headed.

However, the movie was panned by both critics and fans. The only country that seemed to have loved the movie was China.

Even though China made the film profitable, the bad reception was too hard to overcome to justify another film.

It's possible we may see yet another reboot in the franchise, but don't expect to see it anytime soon. The franchise needs a long healthy rest before it can come back again.
