Josh Brolin (who plays Thanos) has confirmed that the character will be returning to be featured in the fourth Avengers film. This means the villain will not just be a one-off character like many other villains in the MCU.

Josh Brolin confirmed this on a post he made on Instagram. He said: "Going back for more more MORE! I want it all." This means filming for Avengers 4 is starting up very soon.

Thanos is set to be one of the more memorable villains in the MCU. The good guys have never faced a character with so much power before.

The character has appeared in MCU movies before, but not on a big scale.

He was seen in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. So far the character was literally taking a backseat until he could find the perfect time to strike.

The goal of Thanos is to acquire all of the Infinity Stones. Infinity Stones have featured in many MCU movies.

By collecting them all and putting them inside the Infinity Gauntlet, he can control the Universe and all of space and time.

This is why everyone needs to try and stop him because the whole Universe is at stake. It's no longer just Earth that is in peril.

Avengers 4 still has no official title as Marvel says the title of the movie could be a spoiler to Avengers: Infinity War. Filming for the fourth film has commenced and is expected to last until the end of the year.

The movie itself is set to be released in North America on May 3rd, 2019. This is one year after the release of Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, 2018.
